Campus Roule: free-access bikes with your CAMIPRO card

Free-access biking is arriving to the UNIL-EPFL Campus! It is now possible to borrow a Campus Roule bike on one of the five available stations, and to return it to any station on Campus, or even on one of the greater Velopass network stations.

Previously, you need to subscrive to the system, by filling the subscription form.

Check the interactive stations map to see whether there are available bikes left.

Check the bike routes map on the Campus, to find the best route for you.

We advise you to read the user's manual previously to borrowing a bike for the first time.

Balance and latest transactions of your CAMIPRO card

It is now possible for you to access to your CAMIPRO card's balance and latest 15 transactions.
To do so, you have to authenticate yourself through Gaspar, by going to the Balance and transactions with the CAMIPRO card page.

The CAMIPRO card becomes a Mobility card

Thanks to its compatibility, the Camipro card can be used for other RFID services, external to the campus. The first example of such kind is the car rental service Mobility CarSharing, with which the EPFL concluded a deal, in order to get preferential rates for its students and staff. This means that your Camipro card can also be used as a Mobility card.

In order to benefit from this new Camipro service, you will have to subscribe to it, by going to the Mobility subscription form.

The CAMIPRO System

The CAMIPRO system functions around a database. It allows the management of a large range of services and electronic payments with a single microchip badge, such as :

• Badge printing


• Infoterminals


• Access control


• Photocopy machine payment


• Electronic payment of network print jobs


• Payments in restaurants, cafeterias, stores ant other campus businesses

Pay with your CAMIPRO card

Identification card, access control, and ... since 2007 it is also possible to pay with the CAMIPRO card. To that end, it is possible to load the card with a charging machine distributed over the campus (location on plan.epfl.ch) until an upper limit of CHF. 500 .-. You can always consult the balance of your CAMIPRO card by inserting it in a charging machine or in a Camipro kiosk, or by a point of sale. You can also check it online.

Gradually all sales points of the school (cafeterias, restaurants, shops; location on plan.epfl.ch) will be equipped with the CAMIPRO system.

Prices are directly calculated depending on the person status, which is automatically read on the CAMIPRO card by the RFID reader. For example, students automatically pay CHF 7.- the menu 1, and doctoral students CHF 8 .-. This means that they get the reduced price automatically without having to visually present the card.

It is also possible now to pay on some SELECTA vending machine equipped with RFID readers, with the CAMIPRO card.
 

CAMIPRO kiosks

There are currently 8 CAMIPRO kiosks that can update validity information on the CAMIPRO card. The kiosks also enables you to check your account balance, latest transactions, and access rights connected to your card.

Furthermore, new functions such as the phone book, plan.epfl.ch, the agenda, the restaurant menus, the availability of Campus Roule bikes, or the M1 metro timetable are now at your service.

These kiosks can be located on plan.epfl.ch.
 

Access control

About 700 doors are controlled by CAMIPRO, using RFID card readers. Such a card reader is shown in the picture on the right. The distribution of these readers on the campus can be seen on plan.epfl.ch.

Some doors are secured with biometric recognition systems (fingerprint and iris).
 

RFID Library

The architecture library has been fully equipped with an RFID management system. An autonomous terminal allows users to borrow the books and giving them back independently.

For this application, a memory segment of the CAMIPRO card has been used to store the NEBIS identification number.

On the other hand, all books in the library have been equipped with RFID chips to facilitate their manipulation (loan, return), their research (inventory), and their protection against theft.

This project represents a pilot project for the installation of all EPFL libraries in the future Rolex Learning Center.

Lost or stolen card

If you lose your CAMIPRO card, it is imperative to block the card as soon as possible, by calling 34000 (external 021 / 693 40 00). This prevents a malicious person to use the money from your card, and you will find all your money back on your new replacement card. Indeed, the balance of your card CAMIPRO is not stored locally on the memory card, but is centralized in the management system.

A fee of 30.- CHF will be required for the replacement of a lost or stolen cards. Students can pay this fee at the Service aux Etudiants counter in the BP building. Employees can get a payment slip (BVR) at the Camipro cards office (BS 143), or at their local Camipro manager. The new card will be issued once the payment is received.
